Born in Wales in 1899, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones trained as a medical doctor at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. He left medicine in 1926 to become Minister of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Sandfields Aberavon, South Wales. A struggling mission church, it grew rapidly under Lloyd-Jones’ ministry to become one of the largest congregations in Wales. In 1938 he left Sandfields to become joint minister with Dr. G. Campbell Morgan at Westminster
